The Difference Between The "natural" Individuation Process, Which Runs Its Course Unconsciously, And The One That Is Consciously Realized Is Tremendous. In The First Case, Consciousness Nowhere Intervenes; The End Remains As Dark As The Beginning. One Could Say, With A Little Exaggeration, That The Persona Is That Which In Reality One Is Not, But Which Oneself As Well As Others Think One Is.

Aging People Should Know That Their Lives Are Not Mounting And Unfolding But That An Inexorable Inner Process Forces The Contraction Of Life. For A Young Person It Is Almost A Sin And Certainly A Danger To Be Too Much Occupied With Himself; But For The Aging Person It Is A Duty And A Necessity To Give Serious Attention To Himself.
