The Very Right To Be Human Is Denied Every Day To Hundreds Of Millions Of People As A Result Of Poverty, The Unavailability Of Basic Necessities Such As Food, Jobs, Water And Shelter, Education, Health Care And A Healthy Environment.

I Am Not A Saint, Unless You Think Of A Saint As A Sinner Who Keeps On Trying.

We Have Triumphed In The Effort To Implant Hope In The Breasts Of The Millions Of Our People. We Enter Into A Covenant That We Shall Build The Society In Which All South Africans, Both Black And White, Will Be Able To Walk Tall, Without Any Fear In Their Hearts, Assured Of Their Inalienable Right To Human Dignity — A Rainbow Nation At Peace With Itself And The World.

A Society That Does Not Value Its Older People Denies Its Roots And Endangers Its Future. Let Us Strive To Enhance Their Capacity To Support Themselves For As Long As Possible And, When They Cannot Do So Anymore, To Care For Them.

There Is A Universal Respect And Even Admiration For Those Who Are Humble And Simple By Nature, And Who Have Absolute Confidence In All Human Beings Irrespective Of Their Social Status.
