Death Is Merciful, For There Is No Return Therefrom, But With Him Who Has Come Back Out Of The Nethermost Chambers Of Night, Haggard And Knowing, Peace Rests Nevermore.

All Great Humorists Are Sad... I Cannot Help Seeing Beyond The Tinsel Of Humour, And Recognising The Pitiful Basis Of Jest - The World Is Indeed Comic, But The Joke Is On Mankind.

My Reason For Writing Stories Is To Give Myself The Satisfaction Of Visualising More Clearly And Detailedly And Stably The Vague, Elusive, Fragmentary Impressions Of Wonder, Beauty, And Adventurous Expectancy Which Are Conveyed To Me By Certain Sights (scenic, Architectural, Atmospheric, Etc.), Ideas, Occurrences, And Images Encountered In Art And Literature.

Humour Is But The Faint Terrestrial Echo Of The Hideous Laughter Of The Blind Mad Gods That Squat Leeringly And Sardonically In Caverns Beyond The Milky Way. It Is A Hollow Thing, Sweet On The Outside, But Filled With The Pathos Of Fruitless Aspiration.
