The American Indian, Once Proud And Free, Is Torn Now Between White And Tribal Values; Between The Politics And Language Of The White Man And His Own Historic Culture. His Problems, Sharpened By Years Of Defeat And Exploitation, Neglect And Inadequate Effort, Will Take Many Years To Overcome.

The Fifth Freedom Is Freedom From Ignorance.

This Is A Moment That I Deeply Wish My Parents Could Have Lived To Share. My Father Would Have Enjoyed What You Have So Generously Said Of Me-and My Mother Would Have Believed It.

In The Last Few Decades Entire New Categories Of Waste Have Come To Plague And Menace The American Scene. Pollution Is Growing At A Rapid Rate. Pollution Destroys Beauty And Menaces Health. It Cuts Down On Efficiency, Reduces Property Values And Raises Taxes. Almost All These Wastes And Pollutions Are The Result Of Activities Carried On For The Benefit Of Man. A Prime National Goal Must Be An Environment That Is Pleasing To The Senses And Healthy To Live In. Our Government Is Already Doing Much In This Field. We Have Made Significant Progress. But More Must Be Done.

I Cannot Say And No Man Could Say That No More Will Be Asked Of Us.
